The Bewley sales team love a new beginning and we’re delighted to welcome Merrie Buckley-Sheldon and Charlie Joselyn, who have just moved into one of the new two-bedroom apartments at Equestrian Walk in Arborfield Green.
And for Merrie, who is a keen horse rider and owner of 14-year-old Dandy, what could be more fitting than living at Equestrian Walk. The site where she and Charlie now live was originally home to a 112-year garrison, used as a veterinary hospital for wounded horses in World War 1, and named by Bewley as a tribute to commemorate the history with horses.
Merrie explained: “It could not have worked out better. Dandy’s actually now living in lovely stables just four minutes from our front door. In fact, we’ve already hacked home and are now discovering so many lovely bridleways that have been opened up and are being created with input from the British Horse Society together with Bewley Homes.”
The couple, both 21, not only managed to complete on their purchase six days ahead of the Stamp Duty holiday deadline but also got permission for another new resident to join them – Daisy, a silver dapple mini Dachshund puppy. According to her owners, ‘Daisy is already enjoying exploring all the walks and green spaces nearby’.
Merrie, a teaching assistant, said: “From the first viewing, we just knew it was the right home. So many key things stood out: the country-feel location and green space, the amount of internal living space, the integrated appliance, quality of the finish and overall value for money; no other new build could compare.”
Charlie explained: “Originally, we talked about buying a house, but once we viewed the apartment at Equestrian Walk, we were amazed at how generous the floorplate is and how well configured our apartment’s layout is. Basically, we feel that we have more and better flowing space than a two-bedroom house but within our budget.”
The pair paid £285,000 for their south-facing apartment, which has two double bedrooms, and an airy open plan living space with a generous hallway, and plenty of storage space, all filled with natural light day and evening.
For both, the location works brilliantly. Charlie works in cybersecurity for a company in Farnborough and can be in the office in under 30 minutes. “We both love the outdoors so having acres of green space on our doorstep, yet being no more than 10 minutes from the local shops, pub and amenities is the ideal arrangement – especially as we like a ‘Deliveroo’! The towns of Reading and Wokingham are really near for nights out, a shopping trip or the cinema.”
Equestrian Walk, one of Bewley’s Village Garden Collection, comprises of an exceptional collection of contemporary two-bedroom apartments and two, three- and four-bedroom houses. Equestrian Walk is closely located to Shinfield, Wokingham and Reading with easy access to the M4 and fast rail links to London.
Elaine Stratford, sales and marketing director at Bewley Homes said: “We are delighted to welcome this Merrie, Charlie and Daisy to Equestrian Walk. The development is a wonderful mix of families, young professionals, couples and downsizers all finding the best of a town and country lifestyle at Equestrian Walk with everything you could need close by. This growing community is attracting buyers who want good local schools, a local store, farm shop, lovely pubs and can achieve a life balance, whilst still being able to work flexibly and commute easily into a town or London.”
