Townhouse living hits all the right notes for musical couple in Hersham

A young professional couple have been discovering the versatility of townhouse living as they settle into life in a brand new three-bedroom home at Bewley Homes’ Elizabeth Park development in Hersham, Surrey.

For Joe and Kirsten, moving from a one bedroom rented flat nearby to their brand new contemporary semi-detached townhouse, has been a revelation in the way they can work at home and use the space to suit their individual needs and lifestyle.

Joe, a former classical concert singer, is an executive at a well-known film and TV studio, working on global post productions. Kirsten is a lecturer in music production in Harrow and an electronic music artist and performer. 

Joe explained: “Both our careers require a lot of technology and equipment, so having accommodation spread over three floors is very practical. On the ground floor, we have turned the family room into a dedicated music room. This means that visitors can access the space directly from the ground floor, where the spacious kitchen/diner is also located along with a cloakroom. This arrangement means we can easily close the door on work and also keep our living room private and uncluttered on the second floor.”

The fact that their townhouse is semi-detached with no adjoining neighbour to one side means the couple don’t need to worry about noise from the ground floor music room. They also love the big garden plot which provides outdoor entertaining space.

Joe commented: “Increasingly we are working at home and this house allows us to ‘zone off’ our work space from our home space.  We have plenty of open plan living, eating and relaxing space on the ground and first floor and the benefit of a great outside space too.  We’re also really pleased with the way our master bedroom is on a separate floor from the two other guest bedrooms.

“We couldn’t be happier with the quality and finish of our new home and are so grateful to Maggie from Bewley’s sales office for ‘selling the benefits’ of townhouses. She was spot on, because the flexible and versatile layout is perfect for how we like to live and work and means we’ve future-proofed and won’t need to think about moving,” added Joe.

With Joe’s office in central London, the fact that the couple can easily travel into central London in 20 minutes is a definite advantage.

Joe said: “Since we’ve been living here, we can’t help noticing the peace and quiet. Our previous flat was close to the train station and noisy! Now all we hear is birdsong and trees rustling. With the city on our doorstep – we have the best of both worlds!”
