Norman Matthews knows a thing or two about great positions. The ex-Hungerford Town FC manager has spent hundreds of hours studying the best positions and formations on the pitch and has the same eye for new build developments.
Norman, who also played in nearly every position for the club and is now a committee member, knew exactly which new house he would buy off plan just by looking at the site plan. He did just that and was one of the first to reserve at Bewley Homes’ prestigious Lancaster Park development in Hungerford.
Norman remembers the first time he saw the plans. He said: “We were living in another part of Hungerford but the parking on our road was getting congested. So, I persuaded my wife Pauline it was time for a move. I had seen Bewley start its construction at Lancaster Park, so I wanted to study the plans as I knew exactly what we wanted.”
Norman and Pauline bought their four-bedroom home for £560,000 and moved in just under a year ago and couldn’t be happier. “We absolutely love it here! We have a lovely quiet location with great views. We can’t fault anything. Overall, the Bewley build quality is very good which is what we expected from their reputation.
“The location of this development is second to none. We can step outside our front door and we’re standing in the North Wessex Downs in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s unbelievable. We are very lucky.”
And Norman is not surprised that the prestigious development has been wowing buyers ever since the launch with its location, stunning views and clever layout of homes across the site.

He added: “There’s a lovely community feel to Lancaster Park with a good mix of families and downsizers. With good schools nearby and a two minute walk to the countryside, I can see why it’s been so popular with all ages.”
Sales and Marketing Director at Bewley Homes, Elaine Stratford, commented: “Buying a new home is a wonderful opportunity to reset and choose the important things for you in life.
“It is lovely to hear Norman and Pauline doing just that, with the home they selected. We work hard to ensure that there is plenty of choice and locations for developments are given great attention to give the best combination. Buyers are surprised just how many features they truly love, and our message is ‘come and see the Bewley difference.’”
