GB tennis players Andy Murray, Cameron Norrie, Emma Raducanu and Heather Watson will be roared on at Wimbledon by pupils from Overton CE Primary school after some special coaching prior to the tournament which was organised by local housebuilder Bewley Homes.
Over 30 children have been put through their paces by local professional coach Ben Jubin who also took time to explain the magic of Wimbledon, the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world.
Elaine Stratford, Sales and Marketing Director at Bewley Homes, said: “By arranging the tennis lessons for the pupils at Overton CE Primary school we aim to inspire children to appreciate the spirit of competition and take pride in our country’s sporting achievements. We believe that instilling a sense of patriotism and promoting healthy competition is important in this day in age.”
Fiona Wyeth, Head Teacher at Overton CE Primary School said: “We are immensely grateful to Bewley Homes for its on-going support. The collaboration presented a fantastic opportunity for our children to discover the joys of tennis and prepare to cheer our British tennis players at Wimbledon.”
Tennis coach Ben Jubin added: “The children really enjoyed the coaching and who knows we might have uncovered a future tennis star!”
