Overton pupil wins Bewley Homes’ show home interior design competition

7 Jun 2023

An 8-year-old pupil, from Overton CE Primary School, has won Bewley Homes’ interior design competition and will have it featured in its new show home at Sovereign Gate in the village.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of its show home in Overton, the premium housebuilder organised a design competition open to all the pupils at the school. The competition aimed to encourage children to unleash their imagination and contribute to the creation of a unique and inspiring living space.

Cerys Luckhurst’s entry captured the hearts of the judges with her captivating jungle theme. Her vibrant and imaginative vision will now be brought to life in one of the children’s bedrooms of Bewley’s new show home, serving as an inspiration for potential buyers who visit the property when it opens this summer.

Cerys received £50 of book vouchers and also won her school a much-needed donation from Bewley to its fundraising for new playground equipment.

Bewley has also invited Cerys and her parents to come back to the new development, as VIPs, when the show home launches.

Elaine Stratford, Sales and Marketing Director at Bewley Homes, said: “We were thrilled to see the enthusiasm and creativity displayed by the pupils at Overton Primary school. Cerys’ design truly captured the essence of what we were looking for. It will transport visitors to our show home into an enchanting world filled with lush greenery, vibrant wildlife and a sense of adventure. We can’t wait to welcome Cerys back when we open the show home to see her design which will leave a lasting legacy in our how home.

“Bewley Homes has always valued community engagement and recognized the importance of fostering creativity among young minds. We had some wonderful entries and the imagination from the pupils from Overton Primary School was very impressive.”

Elaine added: “Creativity in children aids the reduction of anxiety and we are keen to help as much as we are able, with children and schools.  Enabling children to engage with an activity which they find stimulating and relaxing can bring relief from other anxieties.”

Fiona Wyeth, Head Teacher at Overton Primary School said: “The collaboration between Overton Primary school and Bewley Homes not only provided an exciting opportunity for our children to be creative but also to see how this could be used in a real-life situation. We are very grateful to Bewley Homes for the opportunity.”

Elaine added: “Sovereign Gate is a portfolio of beautifully crafted homes forming the cornerstone of our developments and providing a wonderful backdrop for new communities. We have designed the Garden Village Collection to encapsulate the ‘wow’ factor and to create beautiful street scenes. Our Bewley Bond service enables customers to reserve even when they have a house to sell, so it is well worth making contact.”

Bewley is building its high-quality Garden Village Collection consisting of an impressive collection of 82 two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes which are appealing to first time buyers, second steppers, growing families and downsizers.

Bewley is launching its Marlborough four-bedroom show home at Sovereign Gate in the summer.
