On your marks, get set, bake! Bewley staff unveil their very own showstoppers

26 Jun 2019

Staff at Bewley Homes channelled their inner Paul Hollywoods and Prue Leiths for a charity bake sale, with proceeds going to Help for Heroes.

The Bewley Bake Off, held at the developer’s headquarters in Baughurst, was a great success, raising £150 for the charity as part of Armed Forces’ Week. For every cake made, Bewley donated £10 to the cause, while members of staff also paid to indulge in the baked goods.

Entries on the day were judged by Health and Safety Manager Richard Abrahams, Operations Director Peter Carpinelli, Sales and Marketing Director Elaine Stratford and Commercial Director Simon Taphouse. The star baker was Assistant Technical Co-ordinator Dominic Fiore, who made a baked white chocolate and amoretti cheesecake. He took home a hamper of baking equipment for his prize-winning efforts. Coming in second place was Vicky Assael with a chocolate Malteser cake, while Matthew Brook was third with a rainbow cake.

Elaine said: “The Bewley Bake Off was a great success and we’d like to thank everyone who took part. Each cake was delicious, and we were truly overwhelmed by the effort that each of the entrants had put into baking their cakes.

“Help for Heroes, which is one of Bewley’s four chosen charities, is an amazing cause and we’re really pleased to give them the proceeds of our bake sale.”
