New home at Clockbarn Gardens in Send gives Anne ‘a big hug’ every day

30 Apr 2021

Anne Tennant may only have moved a couple of roads away from her old house to a new two-bedroom semi-detached home at Clockbarn Gardens, but from the very first moment she felt like it was the ‘start of a wonderful new chapter in a home that feels like it gives me a big hug every day’.

Downsizer Anne, 72, who has been widowed for nearly six years, is very involved in the local church and an active member of the congregation.  In fact, Anne feels that it was her Christian faith that guided her to move to Bewley Homes’ new Garden Village Collection development in the village of Send.

Anne explained: “I am a great lover of the local community, having been a Send resident for many years.  During that time, I have seen many changes including new developments being built and new people moving into the area.  I felt that the time was right for me to welcome and embrace moving to a brand new house and become part of a new community on this Bewley development, whilst being able to remain in Send close to friends and the beautiful Surrey countryside.”

Anne was keen to downsize from the larger detached house she had shared, happily, with her late husband and find a more practical manageable home.  Prior to moving in, during her daily walks, she would walk via Tannery Lane and watch, with interest and enthusiasm, the build progress at Clockbarn Gardens.

Anne chose a two-bedroom home overlooking the cleverly landscaped new circular village green. She explained her choice: “I wanted to be at the front of the development, where I could see everyday life from my window and I’m sure, as the lockdown restrictions end, the village green will be popular with residents of all ages.”

For Anne the outside space was as important as the inside, if not more so. “I was lucky enough to be able to choose my house which has the largest south facing back garden,” said Anne.

Before moving into the £420,000 two-bedroom home, Anne arranged, with the Bewley Homes team, to have some extra landscaping carried out, creating flower beds and borders ready for planting, designing and laying a path and a shed base.  All the fencing has been painted and patio doors lead out onto the patio which is a real sun trap.  Anne commented: “The garden is my passion and I am relishing creating it from scratch, choosing my planting scheme and seeing how things perform.  It’s a lovely space, so private and I’m looking forward to welcoming new neighbours, friends and family throughout the summer.”

Anne is delighted with the inside of her new home too. “I’ve been so impressed with the service I’ve received from Bewley – the quality of workmanship has been outstanding.”

Above all, Anne said: “I live on my own and my new home has a coziness about it that makes me feel safe and relaxed.  The design and layout give me plenty of practical space, with room for hobbies such as my embroidery, knitting and baking.  No space is wasted by having a hallway, as the stairs lead up from the living room; I do have a door between that room and the lovely light kitchen/dining area that I can close off – it works really well.  The first night I spent in my master bedroom felt so homely, like I was meant to be here and of course, having inbuilt storage and a snazzy en suite bathroom makes perfect use of the space.”

Elaine Stratford, sales and marketing director at Bewley Homes said: “I am delighted to hear about Anne’s purchase with us.   A new home provides a blank canvass to enable a buyer to create new memories and have renewed enthusiasm in their garden or the interior, without the worries of maintenance or unexpected costs. That is perfect for someone like Anne and we also feel it is so valuable to have customers with a mix of ages all coming together in one community.  I hope to meet Anne in the near future and welcome her myself.”
