Will Sciarretta received the best advice close to home when it came to getting onto the property ladder.
His mother, Jane Bailey, is highly experienced member of the Bewley Homes’ sales team and had no hesitation in recommending one of the award-winning housebuilder’s new developments in Hersham, Surrey.
Will, 36, had been living in New York but had to return to the UK in 2020 after losing his job when the pandemic struck. He moved in with his mother in Hampshire and landed another position within a month – still working in legal recruitment for the US market.
Will said: “I had four days to pack up my life in New York and I was in quarantine for two weeks on arrival back in the UK. I then lived with my parents and we made it work. Of course, financially I was able to save so I was very grateful for that opportunity. After a while my mum floated the idea of looking around for a property to buy and mentioned the Bewley development at Elizabeth Park, Hersham.
“I wasn’t initially looking at new developments. But as my job is to do with the US market, I would eventually like to go back to New York in a few years, so I also wanted something as an investment.
“I bit the bullet and went for it. The employment market is still a little bit cautious. It was a risk and I took it and it was the best risk I’ve ever taken making such a significant transaction and moving in the pandemic.
“My mum has worked for Bewley for over 15 years and my siblings are in property, so they gave me advice. I knew Bewley was a high quality housebuilder and I’m delighted with my apartment.
“I did look at other properties, but this was the best and the location contributed. It’s within the M25 which is a good investment point as it will attract commuters if I choose to let it in the future. And it’s just 25 minutes by train into the city.”
Will took up Help to Buy and paid £390,000 for his two-bed and two-bathroom apartment, which features a large east facing balcony.
“My apartment is so bright – it’s great for working from home and there’s a lovely view,” he explained.
Jane added: “He knew from me that I’ve been proud to work for Bewley all these years. He did look at some other properties in the area and made a comparison and in the end, I’m pleased to say he went with Bewley.
“He was also delighted he could afford two bedrooms, two bathrooms and parking. It ticked a lot of boxes and if he goes back to New York one day he feels it will be very easy to let out.”
Apartments at Elizabeth Park feature large and well-equipped kitchens, fitted with integrated appliances, a large master bedroom and built in wardrobes. A spacious dining/living area leads out to a balcony.
Elaine Stratford, Sales and Marketing Director at Bewley Homes, said: “There can be no better endorsement that when a mum recommends buying a home from the company she has spent so much of her career working for. Jane has been a much-valued member of the sales team at Bewley and we couldn’t be more delighted that Will has bought an apartment at Elizabeth Park.”
Nestled in the sought-after village of Hersham, Elizabeth Park is a collection of one, two, three and four bedroom homes, thoughtfully designed to complement modern lifestyles whist crafted to Bewley’s renowned high standards. The development offers a superb property mix, including apartments as well as three storey townhouses.
