Harvey and Jessica Appleton moved into their new build four-bedroom detached home at Bellmount View in Faringdon and couldn’t believe it ticked all of their wish list.
Harvey (28) a software developer and wife, Jessica (27), a charity development manager began their property search across a pretty wide geographical area from where they were living in Maidenhead. Ideally, wanting to buy somewhere that they could buy as a long-term home in an attractive location.
Jessica said: “Our motivation to move out of Maidenhead was to find a home that offered lots of space and was in a lovely country setting, but not too isolated. We wanted more of a small town feel than a sleepy village. Bellmount View was the best of both worlds. After all, we’re still young and we want to be able to pop out to a café or a bar and be within easy access of a Waitrose yet feel we’re not in an urban environment.”
The couple have ended up with everything and more on their original property checklist. Harvey explained: “On our wish list, we knew we wanted things like a study because we both spend a lot of the week working from home, a master bedroom suite, a separate utility, a garage, and above all a feeling of space and a sense of quality throughout the property.”
“The price tag of £510,000 seemed really reasonable and offered us such a lot for the money, far more than anything else we looked at,” said Harvey.
Jessica continued: “We feel we have so much interior space compared with other new build properties we looked at. The standard of finish and quality is brilliant, including quality doors, well-chosen fixtures and fittings and generous 9ft ceiling heights. We love the thought and effort that’s gone into the exterior design; it has such character and a real sense of place. It’s definitely not your typical new build.”
Harvey added: “The fact that the development is situated in an elevated spot with hills and country views around is something we look forward to seeing every day.”
“The house works on many levels. It’s a great location and easy to get to see family in The Midlands. Jessica uses the downstairs study when she’s working from home and I have the fourth bedroom to use as a home office.”
