In blistering 80-degree heat, Bewley Homes’ Matt Jenkins crossed the finishing line of the 100km ultra marathon and in doing so raised over £2,000 for the MS Society.
The gruelling nonstop Threshold Series Race to the Stones – is a route along the ridgeway from Lewknor, Oxfordshire to the Neolithic Avebury Stones in Wiltshire – is hard for experienced runners but in the heat Matt was glad to reach the finishing line.
The ordeal took Matt 18 hours but it was worth it as he explains. “It was quite an experience which I’m now recovering! I was very glad to see the finish line. My father suffered with MS so the I am delighted to fundraise for this fantastic charity.”
Bewley Homes is matching Matt’s fundraising efforts, which will mean £4,000 will be going to the charity.
Bewley’s Managing Director, Andrew Brooks, added: “We were all delighted to hear Matt had reached the finishing line. What an achievement and we are proud to support his fundraising efforts.”
