For the Waite family, Bewley Homes’ Watership Place development in Whitchurch ticked all their requirement boxes.
The family were looking for a bigger home within the Whitchurch catchment area and the move to a delightful four bedroom, detached home offers Simon 41, Sophie 40 and their two children, William aged 11 and Grace 8 all the space to suit their busy lifestyle.
The family had lived in Whitchurch for 17 years and did not want to leave the local area and beautiful countryside they love; a place where they have careers, family and friends.
The location of Watership Place is just a short walk from the centre and is just perfect for Simon who runs his own successful business, as a cabinet maker, with his workshop in Steventon, just 15 minutes’ drive from home.
It also takes Sophie, who has 19 years’ experience working in the NHS, just 20 minutes, by car, to get to Basingstoke hospital, where she works as a midwife. Their two children both attend Whitchurch Primary school and there is a secondary school conveniently located in the town.
Simon said: “We knew that Watership Place was exactly right for us. The development has a nice feeling of space and very attractive variation of house styles. We particularly liked the traditional flint detail on the front of The Marlborough house.
“We chose to buy one of The Marlborough homes off-plan because the layout suited us down to the ground. We paid £550,000 and took up Help to Buy which was very straightforward and, of course, and we benefited from the Stamp Duty holiday!
“We found the Bewley sales team incredibly helpful. Emma, in particular, is a real credit to Bewley and she made the entire buying process considerably less stressful than it could have been – always keeping us informed along the way.”
The Waites are enjoying every room in their new home. Sophie added: “The flow of the downstairs living area and the large patio doors opening onto the garden, from the kitchen and lounge, are a super feature, letting in lots of natural light. The spacious kitchen/dining room has that ‘wow’ factor. We can fit a large dining table into the kitchen, so this works really well for the children to do their homework, while I can do things in the kitchen.
Simon added: “William and Grace have the bonus of a downstairs study/games room, separate to the lounge, to relax in when they finish their schoolwork. The four bedrooms are all doubles and our master bedroom is fantastic with a roomy ensuite and generous wardrobe storage space.”
This summer, the couple are looking forward to doing some work in their big garden, with enough space for a summer house and ‘plans to create different seating areas within the plot’.
Sophie said: “We were already very familiar with Whitchurch. It’s a small but busy town – really friendly and with plenty of useful amenities for families, all within walking distance of Watership Place. We feel really lucky to live in such a beautiful area with the River Test attracting wildlife and great walks on our doorstep.”
Elaine Stratford, sales and marketing director at Bewley Homes, commented: “Watership Place has been very popular with families wanting more space and remaining local to Whitchurch. We are delighted the Waites have settled in so well.”
Whitchurch is a historic town with excellent amenities and a real sense of local community. The town has two village pubs, a church, café and several shops. The railway station and nursery are both approximately a brisk 10-12 minute walk from Watership Place. Whitchurch offers both a primary and secondary school with a fine selection of independent and other state schools within a 20-minute radius.
Watership Place is a ‘Garden Village’ collection of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses which is close to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB). As a town it is very well connected via road M3/A34 to other towns across Hampshire and Berkshire; it also benefits from a fast rail service to London Waterloo.
