HOUSING DEVELOPER SUPPORTS AIR AMBULANCE WITH CHARITY FUNDRAISER
In memory of its employee, Charlotte Emily Riches, last week saw the Directors and staff of local housing developer Bewley Homes host a charity golf day and auction fundraiser in aid of the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance (KSSAAT). Taking place at the stunning Sandford Springs Hotel & Golf Club in Kingsclere, invited guests from across the country and some Bewley Homes employees were all able to take part in a golf tournament and prize auction. Over 145 guests and employees attended raising in excess of £13,000.
Neil Simpson, Sales and Marketing Director at Bewley Homes comments, “We are delighted to support such an important and vital charity. The Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance is a cause that is very close to Bewley Homes’ heart and it was our honour to spend the day raising much needed funds.”
The KSSAAT provides a Helicopter Emergency Medical and Air Ambulance Service across South East England and the surrounding areas. An independent charitable healthcare provider, the KSSAAT is funded almost entirely by voluntary donations. Bewley Homes chose to support this worthy cause in fond memory of Charlotte.
The generous donated auction prize list consisted of a variety of activities and experiences. Sport enthusiasts could bid for tickets to the England vs Switzerland European Qualifier, a bespoke Brompton Bicycle and a framed and autographed shirt by the legendary All Blacks Rugby Union player Zinzan Booke. For those interested in a more indulgent experience; a weekend away in the beautiful village of Salcombe, a three course Michelin dinner at The Shard and a Gin Cocktail Masterclass were the perfect prize. Inhurst Landscapes also provided a comprehensive garden design package, including a consultation and landscaping masterplan.
Sonia Riches, Commercial Secretary at Bewley Homes and Charlotte’s mother comments, “My husband Nick and I will be forever grateful for the medical care given to Charlotte by the KSSAAT crew on the night of 10th October 2014, as without their attendance we may not have been given the opportunity to say goodbye to her at St Georges’ Hospital. We are so pleased that the kindness and generosity of Bewley Homes, its staff and suppliers means that other families will continue to benefit from the invaluable service that KSSAAT provides.”
Adrian Bell, Chief Executive of the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance said, “We are indebted to Bewley Homes for putting on such a wonderful Golf Day in memory of Charlotte and also hugely grateful to all who took part for their very generous support of this Charity – and I include all the sponsors and those who so thoughtfully donated the many auction and raffle prizes. Such a day cannot succeed without a lot of hard work and effort and so we are also extremely grateful to all those who organised this great event, especially Sonia.”
Bewley Homes’ Neil Simpson adds, “The day was a real success and gave the company and community a chance to help a much deserving charity, whilst remembering our friend Charlotte.”
