Fun family days out

If you are planning a staycation or simply aren’t quite sure how you are going to occupy the days over the long Summer Holidays, here are some of our favourite ideas for fun family days out in the areas we know best and where we choose to build our homes (and do remember to check details of opening times before setting out):


Wellington Country Park – this 350 acre park features nature trails, adventure playgrounds, sandpits, a splash zone, animal farm and petting barn.

Dinton Pastures Country Park – 335 acres with a variety of habitats, a play area and plenty of trails for nature walks.

Beale Park – an outdoor wildlife park within 30 acres of land – home to an exciting mix of animals and attractions.

Pinewood Miniature Railway – delighting train enthusiasts of all ages – come to see a variety of steam and diesel electric locomotives.


Westonbirt, The National Arboretum – the inspiration for the names of our homes at Amberley Park, Westonbirt features 15,000 specimen of trees from all over the world.

Athelstan Museum – tells the story of Malmesbury over the centuries housing an impressive collection of artefacts and short-term exhibitions.

Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool – located on the edge of Cirencester Park, there is a 28 metre open air pool with slide and separate children’s paddling pool – a perfect way to keep cool.


Whitchurch Silk Milk – the oldest working silk mill in Britain situated by the River Test in the village which Watership Down author, Richard Adams, called home.

Marwell Zoo – this 140 acre park features hundreds of animals and five adventure playgrounds.

Painshill Park – created in the 18th century by the Honourable Charles Hamilton, there is plenty to do and see at this Georgian gem.

Garsons – enjoy picking your own fruit and veg at Garsons award winning garden centre and farm shop in Esher.
