‘When you find the right location it feels right,’ Gary Phillips said to his wife, Lorraine, as they stood in hi-vis jackets on a muddy bare plot, that would be transformed by award winning housebuilder, Bewley Homes, into their forever home at Bishop’s Gardens in Wickham, Hampshire.
The Phillips family, who have only been in their four-bedroom detached home for a few weeks, have settled in so well. Lorraine said: “The other day, we were out walking the dogs along the River Meon and one of our girls said, ‘it feels like we’re on holiday all the time’. It was lovely to hear that. We are so happy – it feels as though we have always lived here – this home is beautiful inside and out.”
Gary, Lorraine, and daughters, Amy, and Ellie, along with their beloved dogs moved from their family home of 21 years in Lee-on-Solent to the pretty small market town of Wickham in Hampshire’s Meon Valley.
The Phillips were flexible about location but wanted a different layout as well as a generous outside space, including a driveway to park the family’s four cars, that would work better for them now their daughters are older and more independent.
Their £575,000 house gives both Gary, a school site manager, and Executive Headteacher, Lorraine regular ‘pinch themselves’ moments.
Gary said: “Not only have we got the most luxurious home built to such a high standard, we feel that we have all the character and features of a period house – high ceilings, eaves, and attractive detailing, but with the energy efficiency and modern luxury of a ‘turnkey’ home.”
“That’s what Bewley’s sales executive, Gavin, promised; a home where all we would need to do was to open the door and everything would be perfect for us to start enjoying living here from day one and it’s true,” said Lorraine.
Although she’s quick to point out that, ‘on moving-in day, they hadn’t expected to be greeted by Gavin armed with a bottle of Champagne and asked to cut the ribbon around the front door of their new home! It was a lovely surprise and made it even more special.”
Lorraine added: “It gives us so much joy looking out through the living room French windows to views over beautiful fields and ancient woodland. Feeling happy in your surroundings is crucial to daily well-being and mental health – our new Bewley home really gives us that with the right house in the right place.”
Wickham is perfect for the entire Phillips family with its lively cafes, character pubs, restaurants, local bakery, butcher and independent shops dotted around the pretty square and plenty of things going on
locally. Not to mention the wonderful country and riverside walks in the heart of Hampshire’s Meon Valley. There’s easy access to the cathedral cities of Winchester and Chichester and excellent road (M3/M27) and rail connections via Fareham, Portsmouth, or Southampton to London, the south coast and West Country.
Elaine Stratford, Sales and Marketing Director at Bewley Homes, commented: “When you acquire a site as naturally special as Bishop’s Gardens, it’s important to do it justice. It’s heart-warming to know that families like The Phillips feel at home so quickly and appreciate the effort put in by the Bewley team throughout the development journey. From construction, design, landscaping and customer care, it’s important to us that our buyers feel positive about their individual experience.”
Bishop’s Gardens offers a range of two, three and four bedroom homes, priced from £339,950. For more information 0808 173 0009 or visit www.bewley.co.uk
