Double celebration for first couples moving into Canterbury Gardens

15 Sep 2020

There was a double celebration at Bewley Homes’ Canterbury Gardens this week when two couples shared the distinction of being the first residents to move into the new development at the same time.

Adam Robinson and Naomi Burt along with their daughter, Violet aged 5, also found out they will be will living next door to Michael Reakes and his partner Tonicha Louise Hart.

The coincidences don’t end there.  As well as being neighbours, it turns out not only do the couples have mutual friends in common, but Adam, who works as a manger in IT distribution, works with Tonicha’s best friend.

Both couples, from the Basingstoke area, were already familiar with Oakley.  Adam’s association going back to his early twenties, when he captained the first team at Oakley Cricket Club.

Adam said: “It couldn’t have worked out better! I’m sure we’ll all get on very well. They say you can’t pick your neighbours but it feels like we almost have!”

It was the spacious and tasteful design of the £334,950 semi-detached houses, which appealed to both couples. They felt the downstairs layout enhanced the properties natural light and space, connecting the living room with very generous sized gardens.

Tonicha said: “As two bedroom semi-detached houses go, these are really large.  We were amazed at the size of the garden, which gives us an outdoor room to have friends round for a barbecue and space for a dog – eventually!”

Both Michael explained how the clever fittings and mod-cons really enhance the overall quality of the build.  He said: “Extra touches, like windows which turn inside and out to allow you to clean them easily make a difference.  The integrated Smegg appliances are excellent quality and will last over time.”

Adam and Naomi were also impressed at the generous garden plot which is both private and a perfect space for family and friends to socialise. Naomi commented: “The downstairs layout was the best we’d seen – having such a large living room opening out onto the garden and also a dining area off the kitchen.  It feels very roomy throughout the ground floor.  The bedrooms are a good size too and the cloakroom and two bathrooms are finished to a really high standard.”

The collection of 29 new homes at Canterbury Gardens lie to the west of Oakley village and offer 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes with a dedicated landscaped open area and play space for residents, overlooking pretty Hampshire countryside.

Elaine Stratford, Sales and Marketing director at Bewley Homes, said: “This a lovely story to mark the first residents moving into Canterbury Gardens and I’m sure both couples will settle in very well.

“We continue to see our customers making the outdoor spaces as much of a priority this year as they do the inside of each home.   This comes following the lockdown we have all endured and the recognition of space to relax and exercise on the doorstep and the need for flexible rooms to allow home working.  Canterbury Gardens is in high demand as it more than provides both of these elements.”
