Bewley Homes has secured land for 28 new homes on the edge of the attractive town of Calne in Wiltshire.
The stunning site has the benefit of outline planning consent and comprises of eight affordable and 20 detached homes. It is within a short walk of the town centre but adjoins open countryside and has many attractive, listed, Cotswold stone buildings nearby.
Bewley views this as a perfect site to grow its operational area into the West following on from a number of sites which, in the past year, the company has secured planning permission for and built in North Leigh, Faringdon and Hungerford.
Andrew Brooks, Managing Director at Bewley Homes, said: “We are particularly pleased to secure this site as it was extensively marketed and attracted significant interest from our competitors. The promoter, Rainer Developments, chose Bewley because of our reputation of professionalism and ability to act quickly.”
Outline planning for the site was achieved by appeal at the end of last year and Bewley will be submitting its reserved matters application for the detail of the homes later in the year and hopes to make a start on site in Spring 2023.
Andrew added: “This important site will enable us to create a stunning development forming a new community in Calne. We think very carefully about all the locations in which we build, so our homes sit comfortably in their surroundings, have quality finishes, innovative design and energy efficiency features. We are actively looking for land in similar parts of the country as well as the Home Counties and Oxfordshire.”
