Bewley Homes proves the ideal choice for the Perez-Davidson family

28 Aug 2019

When Melissa Perez and Alex Davidson were looking for their dream home, they never expected to fall in love with a new build property. But the couple were proved wrong when they visited Bewley Homes’ Loddon Oak development in Spencers Wood – and are now blissfully happy in their new house with their three children.

Melissa, who is originally from Chicago, said: “We had lived in Newbury for four years, but wanted to be closer to London for Alex’s work. We weren’t really considering new build homes; we had always had the impression that new build developments were very crowded with lots of houses and very little green space between them.

“My parents-in-law drove past Loddon Oak and said, ‘you’re going to want to see these houses’. Despite our bias against new builds, we just knew it was right for us when we went to see the show home. We loved the high ceilings and good-sized gardens, plus the fine finishes and nice details throughout the house. We could tell that a lot of thought had gone into it.”

The 39-year-old added: “The development has only 32 houses and has an abundance of green space so it feels like a proper neighbourhood. We saw seven or eight other new build developments after seeing Loddon Oak but none of them came close.”

The couple moved into their four-bedroom Bewley Homes property before Christmas with their children Emily, Charlotte and Matthew, who are aged six, five and two respectively.

Melissa says she and Alex, who met while they were both on holiday in China, have never regretted their decision to buy a new-build home. “We just love our house – we feel happy every time we walk in,” she said. “It has a very comfortable, welcoming feel and the high ceilings make it feel really spacious.

“The children are always outside in the garden and love the fact they have so much space to play, both indoors and out. It’s lovely.”

From their new home, the Perez-Davidson family are just a ten-minute drive from Reading, while Alex, 36, can easily drive to his job as a civil engineer in Harrow, or take the train into London for appointments. Melissa said: “We have all the benefits of a big city without any of the hassle. We also have many amenities within walking distance such as a grocery store, pharmacy, library and a post office, plus many clubs and activities for the children.”

She added: “We’ve been really happy with the service we have received from Bewley Homes. The after-care team provide regular updates when new people are due to move in and have helped us with the little queries we have had. It has been a very personal service.

Loddon Oak has proven highly popular with now just six homes available and currently offers a selection of three and four-bedroom homes. Prices start at £399,000 for the three-bedroom properties and £625,000 for the four-bedroom houses.
