A new Guide Dogs puppy will be put through its training paces for a year thanks to a £5,000 donation from Bewley Homes.
It’s the third puppy that the developer has supported, after little Bewley in 2015 and Holmes in 2017. This year’s donation was raised at the company’s annual Golf Day, with proceeds from the event also going to children’s charity Sebastian’s Action Trust.
Guide Dogs Community Fundraising Development Manager Denise Clark said: “Bewley Homes has done an incredible thing by naming two guide dog pups; to donate another £5,000 for a third puppy is really amazing.
“We rely on donations to continue our work. Every hour, someone in the UK starts to lose their sight and the continued support of Bewley Homes will allow us to make a life-changing difference to someone living with sight loss.”
When the third pup has been born, Bewley will receive a photo at six weeks old, followed by ‘pupdates’ over the 12 months as the dog goes through training. Staff will also get to meet the pup before he or she starts at training school.
Guide Dogs is one of Bewley Homes’ chosen charities alongside the British Heart Foundation, Help for Heroes and Sebastian’s Action Trust.
Bewley Homes’ Sales and Marketing Director Elaine Stratford said: “We were delighted to present the cheque for £5,000 to Guide Dogs and we can’t wait to hear more about our new puppy. Guide dogs really do make the world of difference to their owners and so it’s vital that the charity is supported through donations like ours.
