An intrepid band of fundraisers from Bewley Homes braved winter temperatures and a whole lot of mud as they took on the Grim Challenge in Aldershot.
A 21-strong team, including Managing Director Andrew Brooks, Strategic Land Director Andy Morris (in a pink tutu) and Commercial Director Simon Taphouse, ran either four miles or eight at the Army Tank Training Area in Fleet Road. The course took the participants through cold water and muddy terrain, up steep hills and under cargo nets, all in chilly temperatures.
The team has raised just over £4,000, with more expected to come in as further donations are made. The money will be split between two of Bewley’s current chosen charities, Help for Heroes and British Heart Foundation. It is the second year a group of colleagues from Bewley have taken part in the challenge, with £7,000 raised for Sebastian’s Action Trust in 2018.
Andrew Brooks said: “I am so proud of everyone who took part in this year’s Grim Challenge to raise money for these two excellent charities. Special thanks also go to our generous sponsors.
It was a day of icy water, mud and plenty of smiles from the Bewley Homes’ participants; yet another demonstration of our great team spirit!”
