Bewley Homes celebrates outstanding achievements at the Pride of Bewley Awards

28 Nov 2023

On a night to remember, Bewley Homes rolled out the red carpet (Saturday 25 November) for over 300 guests, which included staff and their partners, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, estate agents and advisors, who all gathered at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in Reading for the annual Pride of Bewley Awards.

Building upon the success of its inaugural event, in 2022, the awards saw an even greater participation this year, reflecting the continued dedication and excellence within the Bewley community. Despite the challenging landscape faced by the industry, Bewley remained committed to recognising and appreciating the relentless hard work and unwavering commitment everyone has put in this year for the company.

The glitzy event was expertly hosted by the charismatic Matt Fleming who returned for a second year to MC the ceremony. With its pre-Christmas timing, this was another opportunity for the company to come together for an evening of celebration, laughter and surprises.

As the opening credits rolled on screen, at the start of the evening, there truly was excitement and anticipation in the room as Elaine Stratford, Sales and Marketing Director and Craig Ireland, Technical Director, took to the stage alongside two life-sized Oscar statues, for their welcoming address to the audience.

Elaine said: “It’s been a very tough year but Bewley has come through all of its challenges with the support and hard work of all its staff and external partners.

“There have been some memorable achievements over the year – we have achieved a world class Net Promoter Score of 79%, a 5 Star Outstanding Customer Services Award for the sixth year running and came number one out of 71 development companies for making customers ‘feel special and valued’. We have also achieved a remarkable Trust Pilot score of 4.6.

“On top of that we have received a silver RoSPA for Health and Safety on site and a number of prestigious awards including the Evening Standard for Best Family Home and Housebuilder Magazine awards for the Bewley Bond and Best Customer Initiative. We have also been fundraising and donated to a number of regional charities and organisations raising tens of thousands of pounds in the process.”

Craig added: “Throughout the year we have given out 100s of Pride of Bewley awards to staff and external partners. This is an evening of true celebration, and of course, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank all our partner companies who are here tonight – from contractors, suppliers, consultants, agents and advisors alike.  Thank you for the fantastic support throughout the year and for your support in attending this evening.”

Operations Director, Peter Carpinelli, who came up with the theme and idea for the awards two years ago, said: “The Pride of Bewley Awards are a testament to the values that drive our success and the incredible people who go the extra mile to make it all possible.

“Every year, we are inspired by the incredible dedication and passion demonstrated by our colleagues and suppliers. The awards allow us to shine a spotlight on individuals and teams who consistently uphold our values and contribute to the exceptional performance that defines Bewley Homes.”

From the award categories and nominations, board directors presented headline awards to the winners of the following categories, ‘Customer Service’, ‘Keeping Us Safe’, ‘Green and sustainable initiative’, ‘Going Above and Beyond’, ‘Marketing/ Estate Agency’, Consultant of the Year, ‘Site Manager and Assistant Site Manager’,  ‘Sales Executive’, ‘Contractor of the Year,’ ‘Supplier of the Year’, ‘Team of the Year’, ‘Honorary Mentor’ Chairman’s ‘Special Recognition’ award, and ‘Long Service’ Award, with winners receiving rapturous applause and cheers from the audience as they took their position to receive the awards on the stunning stage setting.

Andrew Brooks, Managing Director at Bewley, presented the last award of the night – the Long Service Award – to Andy Morris, Jo Cullum and Alan Smith who between them have given over 65 years of service to Bewley.

Andrew said: “This award is dedicated to honouring those exceptional individuals who have dedicated 20 years or more to the company. These winners not only possess a profound understanding of the business, but they have also made and continue to make a significantly positive impact on their colleagues and Bewley’s external partners.”

Matt Fleming, MC for the evening, said: “I was thrilled to be asked back to be the MC at the Pride of Bewley Awards for a second year. It’s so good to see excellence recognised, even in these tricky times and raising money for the Lighthouse construction charity at the same time. It was a pleasure to be involved.”

Guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner, dancing and a surprise sing along when several ‘Singing Waiters’ took to the floor to generate a version of Frank Sinatra’s ‘New York, New York. sung by the whole room.

A total of £1,600 was also raised for The Lighthouse Charity, which provides emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families.
