Bewley Homes announces latest purchase of 75-acre site near Cotswold Nature Reserve in Ashton Keynes

25 Apr 2023

Premium housebuilder, Bewley Homes, was delighted to announce its completion this week on the purchase of a unique £80million, 75-acre development site, from Acorn Property Group, in the sought-after village of Ashton Keynes within the Cotswold Water Park nature reserve.

There is no doubt that this development affords the company an incredible opportunity to further extend its expansion west of its current area of operation. The 75 private dwellings will be set around two private lakes, open green spaces, and a central courtyard area. With two, three, four and five bedroom terraced and detached homes, bungalows, and Grade II listed buildings which will be refurbished, the comprehensive product range is expected to appeal equally to local Wiltshire buyers and those moving out from London and Oxford or returning to the area.

With its head office base in Hampshire, Bewley Homes operates across the south-east with current developments located in Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, and Wiltshire.

With a reputation established over the last 30 years and following its Silver Award for Best Medium Sized Builder at the What House Awards, Bewley recently celebrated its six consecutive award for Outstanding Customer Service, continuing its 5 Star recognition. Health and safety is equally high on the company’s agenda, with a Silver RoSPA being achieved this year for its excellence in such an important area of the business.

Bewley Managing Director, Andrew Brooks, added his thoughts on the current land market and his vision of the company’s expansion to the west. Andrew commented: “The Bewley Board is delighted to have completed on such a unique development site, which will offer our potential customers the latest technology through our carefully designed and sustainable homes, convenient commutability, and the extensive health and well-being benefits from living, and or working from home, in such a picturesque setting.

“Against what has been a challenging backdrop for our industry and the economy as a whole, Bewley  continues to be offered these exciting opportunities across the south-east and to the west.  I believe this is due to Bewley being a well-funded private company with a very short line of communication, which enables us to move quickly in securing land investments to support the growth of the business.  Furthermore, we are known for building high-quality designed schemes.”

“Ashton Keynes will add to the many other developments which the company has successfully purchased. Recent planning permission were granted for a development closer to this area, in Calne, as well as a Surrey based development in Deepcut near Camberley, which the company completed on within the last month. These two recent investments are key to the continued growth of the business and as always, we are looking for more opportunities, whilst many of our competitors seem to have a more pessimistic outlook on land investments.”

Land Director at Bewley, Andrew Driscoll, added: “We could not be more delighted to have completed this amazing development opportunity. We look forward to building the development in conjunction with Acorn Property Group and believe that it is just the start of our relationship with them.”

James Groombridge, Regional Managing Director, Acorn Property Group, said: “This has been the culmination of three years of hard work bringing the land through the planning process. We are looking forward to seeing the project being developed over the next few years.”
