Bewley helps children plant wildflower seeds to celebrate National Children’s Gardening Week

22 May 2024

Green fingered children across the south have had great fun gardening outdoors with the help of Bewley Homes.

To celebrate National Children’s Gardening Week (25 May to 2 June) the award-winning housebuilder has generously donated hundreds of wildflower seed kits to schools and nurseries. The initiative aims to inspire children, from an early age, to explore gardening, and utilise their outdoor space, while fostering a love of nature.

National Children’s Gardening Week is an initiative celebrated every year in homes, schools, and community groups across the country, and serves as a reminder of the importance of connecting children with nature and fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Bewley Homes’ contribution underpins its commitment to supporting local communities and promoting environmental education among the youth.

Andrew Brooks, Managing Director of Bewley Homes, commented: “We are delighted to help children enjoy the experience of planting seeds and watching them grow. We believe in nurturing children’s connection to the environment and National Children’s Gardening Week provides a perfect opportunity to engage young minds with the wonders of nature to help instill a passion for gardening.”

Elaine Stratford, Sales and Marketing Director at Bewley added: “We choose wildflower seeds to help the children understand how important they are to attract bees and help towards a healthy environment.

“We have been involved with a number of school initiatives this year across the south, where we are building new developments, to promote important campaigns in site safety and careers in housebuilding. Marking National Children’s Gardening Week was another important way to engage with children of all ages.”

Bewley has also given seed kits to all staff for their families to enjoy.
