Bewley backed cycling event in Faringdon heralded a big success

26 Jul 2021

The annual Faringdon Tour de Farcycles charity cycle ride, sponsored this year by Bewley Homes, has been heralded a success by organisers.

The event, last weekend, saw over 300 riders of all ages taking in the beautiful scenery of the
Cotswolds over routes of 30 to 80 miles.

‘Le Tour’ has been recently awarded a Queens’ Award for Voluntary Service and this charitable initiative will help build sustainable, inclusive transport for families in the area to enjoy.

Sjoerd Vogt, founding member and one of the event organisers for the Tour de Farcycles, said: “What a fantastic event! This was by far our biggest field of entrants in our 7th time of running the sportive. Our cycling event is truly special and many thanks to Bewley Homes who became the main sponsor.

“The feedback has been overwhelming and a big thank you to the many people who made this event such a big success.”

Sjoerd added: “As well as lots of local people, riders came from huge distances away and enjoyed it so much they fully intend to come again next year.”

Bewley Homes, who has just launched its new development Bellmount View in the town this month, teamed up with Farcycles as part of its ‘Bewley Backs Bikes’ campaign in its 30th anniversary year, to promote safe cycling, healthier lifestyle and mindfulness.

Elaine Stratford, Sales and Marketing Director at Bewley Homes, said: “We were delighted to sponsor Le Tour de Farcyles. It mirrors many of the key aims of our ‘Bewley Backs Bikes’ campaign. We believe that getting out in the fresh air and spending that kind of quality time safely, has never been more important.

“We have just launched our stunning show home at our new Garden Village Collection development in Faringdon so this is our way of supporting the local community.”

The Farcycles is a charity that lobbies for cycling infrastructure improvements and tries to influence policymakers on cycling investment. We regularly get involved in projects that facilitate and encourage cycling and sustainable transport.
