Bewley announces another record year for the Group

Bewley Homes has reported another exceptional financial year ending 30 September 2022. The business achieved many significant milestones including a record turnover of £170.4m, record profitability of £36.0m and a gross margin of 21.2%. 


Bewley experienced excellent demand for its Garden Village Collection, throughout the home counties, from customers looking to purchase a quality home in desirable locations.



The company had considerable success throughout the year acquiring strategic land, secured under option agreements. The company says this will ensure a strong pipeline of land in the medium term, allowing it to meet its growth aspirations, without sacrificing margin.



Bewley’s Non-Executive Chairman, Greg Locke, commented: “Bewley has had an exceptional year, and these results are particularly pleasing, being delivered against the backdrop of the pandemic, which impacted the first half of the year, and the ongoing challenge of materials and labour availability as well as inflation affecting the sector.


Greg added: “As well as a very strong cash position, continued support from our shareholder, we also have solid financial foundations through our funding from HSBC and Lloyds. We are therefore well positioned to take advantage of any opportunities that arise in 2023.”



Andrew Brooks, Managing Director at Bewley Homes, added: “This result was a fantastic team effort. We will look to drive our future growth through profitable land acquisitions, together with delivering sites from our strategic land portfolio, which has been growing considerably over recent years and is set to deliver some quality developments.”



“The focus continues on acquiring suitable land for us to create new communities and we are actively looking for sites which would accommodate anything from 40 to 500 homes.”


Andrew added: “Being privately owned with a short chain of command and excellent liquidity gives us the ability to act quickly as well as providing flexibility in the way we structure a transaction. This in turn enables us to continue to build a sustainable business with a great reputation.


Bewley builds high quality developments in sought-after, premium locations predominantly in Berkshire, Hampshire, South Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Wiltshire and Surrey. The business concentrates on sites of up to 500 units offering a range of property types, typically within the price range of £300,000 to £800,000 in the right geographical location.
