A room with a view

“She promised us south rooms with a view close together, instead of which here are north rooms, looking into a courtyard, and a long way apart” lamented Charlotte Bartlett to her cousin Lucy in E.M. Forster’s ‘A Room with a View’.  So intense was their disappointment that they committed the social indiscretion of accepting rooms with a view from people of whom they knew nothing.

A century on and views continue to remain highly desirable, with people willing to pay high sums to secure them.  Ten years ago, The Daily Telegraph published an article claiming that buyers might be prepared to pay up to 50% more for a property with a particularly impressive or enticing view.

Chris Nicklin, Partner of Strutt and Parker Odiham, says:  “A view, much like any other feature in a property, is entirely subjective and one person’s idea of a lovely view may differ inordinately from another.  That aside, there is no doubt that a beautiful vista will certainly help the sale-ability of a property.”

Bewley Homes has launched the final phase of its Hartley Row Park development, on the edge of the quintessential English village of Hartley Wintney.  Featuring a selection of 4 bedroom houses, all in an elevated location, the properties here offer exceptional living and entertaining space, high specification fixtures and fittings in a location which is second to none and each has outstanding views across the surrounding Hampshire countryside.

Jane Bailey, Sales Manager at Bewley Homes, comments: “The final properties here are truly exceptional.  They have been designed to make the most of the superb views whilst also offering spacious and practical living accommodation with enough grandeur for formal entertaining but without being too pretentious for informal gatherings and cosy night’s in.

“Being located in the uppermost corner of the development, they also claim the quickest and easiest access to the shops, cafes, restaurants and community which makes up the village of Hartley Wintney itself.”

Prices start at £895,000
