Blue Light Card discount just the help paramedic needed to buy Bewley home

17 Jun 2020

Helen Adamson and Katie Ballard will always remember the day they could finally buy their first home.

During the second month of lockdown, Helen, soon to be a fully qualified paramedic, was doing research on the Bewley Homes’ website and discovered she was entitled to a discount for holding a Blue Light Card. This meant a discount on any Bewley home and Helen was immediately on the phone to book an appointment at Ash Lodge Park near Guildford as soon as it reopened.

Helen, who has worked for the ambulance service for eight years, fondly recalls: “It was one of those celebratory moments and we were over the moon. The big discount made all the difference to being able to afford our dream home together. We talked to the sales advisors about the house we could afford and made sure we were the first people to view the show home at Ash Lodge Park when it re-opened.

As expected, the visit to the show home ticked all the boxes for the couple who wanted to stay local and close to friends and family, as well as being able to get access onto the motorway easily for work.

The first-time buyers took advantage of the Bewley Bond which allowed them to hold the property for four weeks while they completed their mortgage offer.

Katie commented: “The Bewley Bond worked out really well. Because the mortgage lenders were short staffed coming out of lockdown, we couldn’t get our offer as quickly as we would have liked in order to make a full reservation. The Bewley Bond meant that the property came off the market and, was effectively ours, until we could get our offer sorted.”
Helen and Katie also took advantage of Help to Buy and are now looking forward to moving into their £370,000 two-bedroom home which boasts an en-suite, garden and allocated parking.

Elaine Stratford, sales and marketing director at Bewley Homes, said: “Bewley Homes is the only housebuilder offering Blue Light Card holders a discount through the official website. The country is desperate for ways to say thank you to the emergency services, NHS and key workers during this period. This is the Bewley way to say thank you for all their hard work and dedication.”

Katie added: “It’s a great starter home for us. We have enough space, a garden and allocated parking. We really liked the style of Bewley Homes. We were attracted to the location first and foremost, but the quality of the build also stands out.

“We did our research and after looking at other housebuilders we realized they charge for almost every extra which soon mounts up. At Bewley Homes it included all our flooring, and top of the range Smeg kitchen appliances and white goods.”

Ash Lodge Park is one of Bewley Homes’ flagship developments with a stunning street scene of bespoke looking, character homes and plenty of outside space for walks and exercise.

Elaine Stratford added: “We are delighted Helen and Katie have been able to move to a full reservation through the Bewley Bond which effectively allows them to relax and start to enjoy the process of buying their first home.

“Ash Lodge Park has sold very well for us. In the first ten days back after lockdown, we sold six homes which shows how popular it is. This development has everything. It’s close to Guildford and Farnham, is in a great location for easy access onto motorways and offers a wonderful outside space for leisure pursuits including the Trim Trail.

“As part of the planning consent for the site Bewley acquired adjoining farmland to create a 24-hectare country park, which is now owned and managed by the Land Restoration Trust. This provides for a variety of habitats including wetland and pasture, with a 2.3-kilometer circular walk and areas where a dog can be safely let of the lead.”
